Breaking cycles of emotional engagement
The Exploit
Loops trap. Rage-response-rage. Anxiety-avoidance-more-anxiety. Systems create and exploit emotional loops — they keep you engaged, reactive, exhausted. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”
The Counter-Hack
See the loop. Break it. Loops require both halves. Remove either side, and the loop collapses. The Loop node is about interrupting cycles.
The Practice
The loop mapping — What triggers what triggers what? The interruption — Do something different at any point The alternative path — Build new response patterns The maintenance — Loops re-form; stay vigilant
In the Dopamine Circus
Outrage loops are engagement. The Loop node teaches you to step out. The metric: Are you in any emotional loops right now? Can you name them?
Relation to Cognition
Feedback Loops — Emotional systems are feedback systems Rumination — Cognitive loops Habit — Behavioral loops
The Whisper
“I see the loop. I break the chain.” Loops feel inevitable. They’re not. Interrupt at any point. 🔄
From the Manuscript
This node carries no marginalia in the surviving session. The transmitted architecture it descends from is preserved in Chapter 18 — Session 28409296.
